The number of Portuguese youths who don’t work or study has doubled since the turn of the century.

According to a new report by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, the percentage of young people aged between 15 and 29 that live off the state or family and who do not attend school or university has climbed to just over 20 percent.

The research contained in the report Education at a Glance, says that this figure stood at 11 percent back in the year 2000.
