400 Santas In Speedos Are Sprinting Through Toronto This Weekend

Written by on December 11, 2019

If you’re looking for a unique way to welcome the holiday season this year, the annual Santa Speedo Run Toronto is making its way into the 6ix this weekend. If you don’t want to participate yourself, don’t be shocked when you see a bunch of people running through the streets in bright red speedos and bikinis. In support of SickKids, tons of Santas have signed up to take part in raising money for the children’s hospital.

On December 14, Toronto’s very own “Santas” will take over the streets of the Yorkville area to run a 3km race.

Anyone is allowed to take part and signing up to run is free. If you’re okay with running in freezing temperatures.  Snow, rain, whatever the weather may be, the run is going to be taking place.

Although runners aren’t required to pay an entrance fee, they are required to raise a minimum of $250.

According to the SickKids Foundation website, the Santa Speedo Run has already raised $22,792 of their $25,000 goal.

All proceeds raised will go towards the “Toys and Games Fund” at The Hospital for Sick Children.

In 2005, the Toronto Santa Speedo Run was formed to become a creative and festive way to raise as much money as possible for the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children’s Toys and Games fund.

According to the website, they’ve raised more than $350,000 for the fund, to date.
