Canada’s largest polar bear dip is coming to the GTA on New Year’s Day

Written by on December 9, 2019

If you want to start your new year by taking a major plunge, here’s how. A very big — and very cold — charity dip is landing just a short drive from Toronto on January 1.

The Courage Polar Bear Dip is a fundraising event for World Vision, where jumpers pledge $30 or more for the privilege of plunging into the cold waters at Oakville’s Coronation Park.

On New Year’s Day, thousands of dippers and spectators will converge at the park for the 35th annual event, where dippers of all ages are welcome.

In addition to the cold-water plunges, there will be live music, food stations and a costume contest.

It’s set to be great fun, all for a great cause.

World Vision is the largest non-governmental provider of clean water in the developing world, providing a new person with clean water every 10 seconds. According to their website, the Courage Polar Bear Dip is the largest dip of its kind, so participants can really feel great about the impact of their involvement.

If cold-water swims are your thing, check out the site for more info about how you can get involved.

Grab your snowsuit and your swimsuit, and get ready to take a dip.
